Transfer your Mozilla Firefox profiles

Do you need to transfer your Mozilla Firefox profiles (bookmarks, saved password, plugins etc.) from one PC to another. There might be a number of reasons why you may want to do this. May be you plan to change your hard disk or operating system or you just bought a new PC/Laptop.It’s such a pain to install all the various add-on’s and to import all the Bookmarks again.

I faced a similar scenario when i changed my operating system.I needed to transfer my firefox profile from the old Operating System to the new one. I found out, it’s the easiest thing to do!

1.Take Backup of below specified files that are present in your Old Operating System:
C:\Documents and Settings\(user)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(a folder with extension .default)
2. Install Firefox in the new Operating System.

3. Copy paste all the contents from your old Operating System location as below to a similar one in the new Operating System location :
C:\Documents and Settings\(user)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(a folder with extension .default)

The folder with the ".default" extension would be your default profile. You’ll be able to see Firefox the way it was in your old Operating System!

Note: You can do the same process even when you change the Hard Disk.
